Japan’s Largest Power Company TEPCO is Mining Bitcoin Using Renewables
Tokyo Electricity Power Company (TEPCO) has begun mining Bitcoin through its subsidiary Agile Energy X using excess renewable energy that would otherwise be wasted. The initiative helps reduce wasted green energy from solar and wind farms that are forced to curtail production to avoid overloading Japan’s grid. The energy is now being diverted to generate Bitcoin.

Global payment giant Mastercard is expanding its support for non-custodial cryptocurrency wallets in a new collaboration that enables users to spend crypto stored in self-custody. In the collaboration, Mastercard has enabled a new euro-denominated debit card that allows users to spend cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin at more than 100 million merchants in the Mastercard network.
FBI Reports 45% Rise in Crypto Fraud, $5.6 Billion Lost
The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crime Complaint Center has revealed a sharp rise in cryptocurrency fraud complaints, with over 69,000 cases and $5.6 billion in losses. Investment scams accounted for 71% of these losses. According to the FBI report, while cryptocurrency complaints represent only 10% of total financial fraud complaints, they account for nearly half of the total monetary losses.

Michael Saylor Predicts Bitcoin Will Hit $13 Million, Reveals Expected Date
Michael Saylor, co-founder and Executive Chairman of the business intelligence firm Microstrategy and well-known Bitcoin advocate, recently reiterated his bullish stance on Bitcoin during an interview with CNBC on Monday. During the interview, Saylor emphasized that Bitcoin represents just 0.1% of the global capital, envisioning a substantial increase to 7%, a monumental shift that he suggested could propel Bitcoin to $13 million by 2045.

Crypto becomes US election issue for the first time
Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin are playing a role in the coming United States presidential election as 73% of crypto owners in the US said that a candidate’s stance on crypto would have “some impact” on their vote. Additionally, another 37% of respondents indicated that a presidential candidate’s position on crypto would have a significant impact on their vote.
