NASDAQ seeks SEC approval for bitcoin index options

Nasdaq is seeking the green light from regulators to launch and trade options on a bitcoin index. Thus far, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has yet to approve options based on any of the individual exchange-traded funds tied to spot bitcoin prices. The proposed index options - listed derivatives offering a quick and inexpensive way to amplify exposure to bitcoin - on a bitcoin index would give institutional investors and traders an alternative way to hedge their exposure to the world’s largest cryptocurrency.

A report from the Federal Bureau of Prisons states that CZ is out of prison but still detained in the RRM Long Beach reentry facility. His full release is expected in September.

Russia Plans to Link the Chinese Yuan for New Stablecoin

Russia unveiled plans to launch two State-linked cryptocurrency exchanges to integrate digital payments for trade settlements. They also plan to peg the Chinese yuan with a cryptocurrency-based stablecoin at a 1:1 ratio. The Chinese yuan-linked BRICS stablecoin is expected to help Russia bypass US sanctions and end dependency on the dollar.

Sony, Electronics Pioneer Behind Walkman, Starts Own Blockchain ‘Soneium’


The Japanese electronics giant is now starting its own blockchain. Sony Block Solutions Labs announced last week that it was coming out with a new layer-2 network atop the Ethereum blockchain called Soneium. Soneium is expected to go live on a test network this week, and will make use of optimistic rollup technology, which allows users to transact on networks built on top of Ethereum for cheaper.

Trump Releases Another NFT Collection

The former President’s recent evolution into the “crypto president” in this year’s election is being marked with a fourth series of NFT trading cards. The “America First Edition” set of Trump Digital Trading cards includes NFTs again  minted on Ethereum scaling network Polygon and selling for $99 each.
